There seems to be some general confusion concerning the differences between the Jesus of the Christian religion and the “Gnostic” or “Universal” Christ. I’ll begin by quoting J. Edward  Cornelius from his book The Sexual Secrets of Aleister Crowley:

Carl Jung clearly understood that the previous age embodied primarily the light side of our psyche which he saw epitomized as the Son of God, Jesus Christ. Piscean souls in general could not reconcile the need for duality, or how God created both the light and the darkness for a reason; as Jung noted – “[T]he Christ-symbol represents only one side, the other being shown by his enemy, the Antichrist or Satan.” And with that mentality Piscean souls in general equate Satan with darkness and loose morality, and they were repulsed by everything to do with sex which they deemed to be sinful or evil…. In this new age of Aquarius, which began roughly around 1904, mankind is reaching toward the Stars, and it seems that the darker side of Infinite Space is slowly moving into the foreground of our thoughts…. Instead of embracing sex properly, many New-Aeonic souls have learned well from the masters of the previous Aeon, and they are hating everything to do with the Light, or Jesus Christ. Let me warn you: as Thelemites you cannot go this route; it means that you are no better than your antagonists. Contrary to what either side might like, the One True God seems to have a greater plan for all of us than our feeble minds can comprehend, and with that, embracing the Light and the Darkness is inevitably a requirement in the evolution of mankind toward Godhead…. The scripture teaches us in Matthew Chapter 1 that “he [Jesus] will save his people from their sins” by bringing us to salvation. Remember, he died for our sins, and I do not mean the mythic Christ of the mundane churches, but rather the Universal Christ which embodies the genius in every man, woman and child. You must carefully make this distinction. The distinction is like apples and oranges. You can call this Universal Christ by whatever name you’d like—either “Solar Consciousness,” your Holy Guardian Angel or even Adonai, but it is important to know that this genius is centered in the sephira of Tiphereth-6 (תפארת), or the Sun. Essentially, the new Christ is the same as the old Gnostic Christ. The only difference is the times in which He appears. (And, to be clear, yes, He manifests in actual God-Men.) It’s the idea that Christ and Satan (or Horus and Set/Son and Daughter) are Brothers (Zain). Spirit and matter are One/None.

When a human being dispels identity with the ego, he or she may embrace the flesh as One with Spirit. Thus, Christ Redeems the flesh, or the Animal Soul of the World. The woman (Kundry) embraces Christ simply by ceasing to push their separateness, ceasing to resist, saying yes to God, and allowing themselves to be swept along by the Will. In The Chalice of Ecstasy, Kundry is said to have laughed at the suffering of Christ. When a man lives as a new Christ, he suffers the loss of the lower things for the higher. Every Parsifal suffers one sort of crucifixion or another. Every Parsifal is bound to his incarnation as a vehicle of the Universal Will. To wield the Lance is to give up personal ownership not only of the penis, but of his entire lifetime. For her part, Kundry surrenders her false separation from Parsifal/Christ so that she may be of real service to Will, or Phallus. She accepts her fundamental identity as Nameless Woman (=418!), Nemo. A woman must become genuinely humble to live on the periphery and nurture her Christ-center.
