“Every thought of his mind is as a tempest that uprooteth the great trees of the earth, and shakest the mountains thereof.”   –Cry of the 16th Aethyr

When you reverence your inner Self you no longer try to make life love you. You love life. You give your whole life to Nuit as a ritual offering.

“Sing the rapturous love-song unto me! Burn to me perfumes! Wear to me jewels! Drink to me, for I love you! I love you!”  —AL, I:63

The “people of sighing” (AL, II:17) lust for results. Over and over, they try to get something from life. Over and over, they fail.

If you think you need some particular thing, perhaps you’ve already failed?

“If Will stops and cries Why, invoking Because, then Will stops & does nought.” –AL, II:30

The foolish people believe they lack something. They run around the edge of the Wheel after what they want, but it’s is always right across from them, on the other side of the Wheel. They make these illusory somethings their Gods. Desperate, they pray with their dreadful subterfuge.

“These are fools that men adore; both their Gods & their men are fools.” –AL, I:11

But in Thelema “Nothing is a secret key of this law” (AL, I:46). Run toward life as it is, like a long-lost lover. Unite with it. Orgiastically embrace it. Let nothing remain but Pure Joy!

“Remember all ye that existence is pure joy; that all the sorrows are but as shadows; they pass & are done; but there is that which remains.” –AL, II:9

Like the Sun glancing slyly at the maiden Moon, look at life and see Nothing but your own Light. Rejoice!

“They shall rejoice, our chosen: who sorroweth is not of us. Beauty and strength, leaping laughter and delicious languor, force and fire, are of us.” –AL, II:19-20

Once you’ve fermented paranoid passivity into passionate surrender, you’ll laugh.

“To me, to me!” –AL, I:53
