Illustration of an Asteroid hurtling toward a glowing Star

As you’ve probably noticed, the occult world is full of what Jerry Cornelius used to call “asteroids”.  The annoyance of encountering one at least serves as a good reminder not to be one—that is, to turn around focus on your own Star.

Asteroids are people who:

  • have no business in your affairs,
  • have no idea what they’re talking about,

but

  • nonetheless take it upon themselves to crash your party and behave like a perfect ass.

These walking mental fabrications try to provoke a fight with you to convince themselves for that moment that they have real existence. Of course, the next minute, they have to do it all over again.

This came up recently for us. Christopher and I had responded to some misinformation that someone spread to smear us. Some random person then came on one of our pages and baldly contradicted our correction.

Specifically, we wanted the public to know that we are not selling off Jerry Cornelius’ library. One of our distant Facebook friends came back and said, “Yes you are”. We asked him to tell us what makes him say that. But, of course, he couldn’t, because he has no cause. He owes us a public apology, but we aren’t holding our breath. It takes a big man to admit when he’s been wrong.

Christopher and I forgive him whether he apologizes or not. In other words, we recognize that we’re all members of the body of God, and, being manifested through the laws of duality, none of us is perfect.

Even most self-proclaimed Magistri Templi are unable to take responsibility for their public utterances once proven false. Are you really a “master” if you pretend you never bet on the wrong horse, sometimes in a spectacular manner?

If you’ve ever done this, just laugh it off and say, “Oops! I was wrong.” We all make mistakes. If your ego is parked so far up your own ass that you can’t even apologize for the big and small wrongs you’ve done, nor issue a retraction, you’re not a master.

Especially beware those twisted souls who claim perfection.

We should all learn from asteroids. If you look within and find that you have at one time or another spread gossip, lies, or venom, or if you left your own orbit to taunt someone, just go ahead and admit you were wrong. So you goofed—big whoop!

A magician is only as good as his or her word. We tend to forget that when we die, all our fancy clothes and wonderful illusions about ourselves die with us. Gone. The only thing that survives is the body of habits. Simply put, whereas lies and gossip degrade our soul, Truth makes us formidable.

POSTSCRIPT May 28, 2025 e.v.  The person apologized today for writing when he didn’t know the facts! I’m impressed and heartened. Good for him! Again, we all make mistakes. I appreciate him for coming forward.
